p.45 congratulates its designer Rachel Comey on the opening of the label’s first retail location in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. Formerly a rug shop, the newly-renovated space boasts a mix of inspired design elements that all work together to compliment the pieces of Rachel Comey’s collections. The ceiling’s natural wood rafters and expansive skylights, a table crafted from stones found along Comey’s favorite Long Island beach, and, of course, the blend of masculine and feminine influences that have been a trademark of her brand—imagine concrete floors, luxe velvet curtains and plush leather couches (specially designed by Comey)—offer a heightened sense of refinement to the space.
Last week, Comey hosted a private event at her new boutique to celebrate the momentous occasion. Amongst the crowd, p.45’s own Tricia Tunstall was in attendance, “I love the space…a beautiful store that fits the aesthetic of this well-respected designer.”
