about the designer: sarah mcguire
Chicago-based jewelry designer and metalsmith Sarah McGuire finds inspiration in organic forms, manmade curiosities and classic modernist design. From her timber-loft studio, the designer and a small team craft each piece of jewelry by hand. Sarah uses recycled metal – primarily high-karat gold and sterling – mixing it with linen, leather, rough gemstones and diamonds. Her goal is to make timeless, meticulously crafted pieces that can be treasured for years to come.
new to p45: Floriane Fosso
In 2016, Floriane Fosso presented her first collection of high-end ready-to-wear, "From Paris To". The collection is inspired by her travels around the world.
Her approach as a young designer is unique. She carefully upcycles quality fabrics of old collections from haute couture houses. She uses natural and organic materials in her pieces.
The collection is made in Paris and Lyon, France. Floriane Fosso pays particular attention to the finishing of the garment, and aims to preserve the traditional couture work Paris is known for.
about the designer: Katharine Kidd
Raised in Atlanta, the L.A.-based designer Katharine Kidd Shippey launched her eponymous line in 2010.
Kidd has earned a fevered following thanks to her flattering, feminine silhouettes and edgy custom-designed prints.
Fit-and-flare and drop-waist dresses ($475 to $650) are mixed with sculptural separates ($155 to $825) that are equally
appealing to both ladies who lunch and corporate power players. She states, “I design clothes for real women—modern
day women with busy lives,” notes the multitasking mother of two. “Whether they are working women or not, all women
are filling multiple roles, and they need clothes that reflect that.”
